Getting ready to replace the thru hulls and gate valves on my 81' 27' Understand about thread problem with ball valves but has anyone tried using a bottom tap and threading one side of a ball valve to straight thread?
A 3/4" Conbraco bronze ball valve costs $16.99 from West marine. A 3/4" seacock from the same manufacturer costs $36.99. A ball valve sitting out on the stem of a thru hull is nowhere near as safe and sturdy as a proper seacock mounted on a sturdy backing block. You didn't buy a boat to save money!! Spend the extra $20 and do it right.
