Cat,
I have a 1980 cat 30. Eight years ago I had my boat in the yard for over a month. After spashing the boat I did notice water started puddling at the same location port & stbd sides. I didn't have this problem before the haulout.
Two reasons I've toyed with was maybe the stands were not positioned correctly along the length of the boat or maybe not enough of them for balanced support which caused sag.
Reason two was maybe adding to the problem, it might have been the rigging tension as I didn't need to do any work with my spars etc. at the time so my tension was set as is. I don't have construction drawings on the stiffener design & location but would bet this could also be part of the problem.
Add these two together and they may have helped cause this so called sag. Looking at the boat design, I'm pretty sure this was my case. I do not like the puddles and always have to celan the dirt & dry them so as not to track footprints on my deck.
I always wanted to contact Kent @ Catalina in Calif. to see if he is aware of this problem, but as usual life goes on & it's not a priority item at this time. If you ask him, please let me know what he says.
If your going to haul the boat next time see to it that you have plenty of stands properly set. I would have triple set stands in the area of the puddling. Maybe relax your fore & aft stays abit while on the hard. I will take this approach next time. Fiberglas will sag & deform somewhat from temperature and tension points with inadequate stiffening support.
Hope this helps,
CR
