I am finally going to reach out to a web developer today and see about building myself a new site, I already have the domain name but don't know squat about building the site. If I put the articles in .pdf and set the security settings scumbags will be less able to steal my work..
At the bottom of the SS metals page it say "copyright". LOL
Not that this helps the way you feel MS but when someone copies your stuff that is the greatest compliment to what you're doing. Sadly no amount of legislation or legal bs will ever stop the work of the devil.....

The legal side of things
What youall are doing is called a DDOS (Directed Denial of Service) attack and I believe there can be legal consequences for same.
Just because a guy steals your stuff is not justification for you to burn down his house. there are appropriate legal means to get justice.

I can feel for you. I have a lot of technical stuff on the hot rod side of my site and it has been used on other sites as if they wrote it. My truck and teardrop were used as the main logo for a teardrop trailer site without my permission. They disappeared. My truck was used by a major company that has car refinishing supplies in a drag strip game you could play on their site.
What have I done? Nothing as I figured the frustration factor would be too high and not worth it. I put info on the Internet for pleasure and not profit. If it was the other way around I would probably try and do something.

This site is obviously not legit. What they are doing is trying to aggregate emails from folks and then selling them on a lead-gen model. They are using Maine's content to generate traffic via search and if the traffic grows enough you will eventually see ads on the site. I would not bother trying to email them (only you Maine to get your content back). They probally have a network of thousands of sites like this and scrape any content they can online that is not copyright protected.
You may want to contact Google on this as they can block them from search-rank thus killing their traffic.

Good point. They probably love all the emails they are getting now that can be confirmed to be from boat owners.
I've sent several emails to them under my various identities. Who knows maybe it will work maybe not, but at least they know that we know.
It's always a shock to see your work appropriated without notice or compensation.
There are a couple of different ways to look at it. It's of course natural to be outraged at theft of content. Unfortunately, the internet makes it too easy to find and re-use content. The flip-side of this is that now it's MUCH easier for everyone to get information, and for people (like MS) to earn a wide following and respect, which can potentially bolster his marine service activities.
Hence, there's two possible reactions:
1) protective - try to prevent appropriation, go after unlawful use
2) opportunistic - make it known that your work can be republished but only with your permission and a proper attribution is given to you, along with a link back to you.
It's MS's call as to which response is most appropriate, but successful prosecution is prohibitively expensive for the little guy. One option is to try to get your work officially published (and you really should, it's more than good enough), and then the publisher has a vested interest in defending the rights they've just paid you for, and the muscle to pursue offenders.

I doubt that we could generate enough traffic to be considered a DDOS attack. Most DDOS attacks have to utilize thousands of Zombie machines to create sufficient traffic to bring down a server. Simply voicing your legitimate displeasure at their site coouldn't possible be contrued as a DDOS.

They may be based in India but they are hosted by an ISP in the US. www.argonblue.com is the owner of the IP address the offending website is using. Sending them info about the copyright would get you further considering it is on a server in their facility in California.

I asked for a pricing guide for buying in bulk. Hopefully I will get a response so I can tie them up awhile, that way they won't bother another while dealing with me. I do that for callers on the phone. I tie them up to where they eventually hang up themselves. Waste their time, I feel I'm doing society a service that way.

Consider watermarks on your images. They are easy to add with Photoshop or similar software and would not hinder the information presentation. If people can't use your images, they probably won't use anything else.
This is not a DDOS(Distributed Denial of Service). These actions do not cause a denial of service. What you are doing here is not illegal. Maybe immoral but not illegal.
And the fact that they publish their actual email address on their website leaves them open to millions of spam bots. They already get so much crap in their inbox that nothing an individual could send them would even be noticed.
