I recently bought a boat that the previous owner put raised letters on the stern with screws. Any hints on how to fill the holes and with what so it looks good?

Paul, most local marine stores carry a gel...

coat repair kit. It includes several different coloring agents to make sure you get the right matching tint. Just follow the directions. Mix a little lighter at first then add darker colors until you get the right match. Terry

Approach to Repair of screw holes

1. Grind out any loose fiberglas from the holes so that the holes are smooth. 2. Fill the holes with Marinetex. 3. Sand flush with 60 grit, 220 grit and 400 grit sandpaper. 4. Obtain Gelcoat from Catalina for your boat. 5. Mix gelcoat with MEK hardening agent. 6. Apply gelcoat with a sponge brush over the holes. 7. Cover with plastic tape. 8. When dry, sand with 60, 220, 400 and 600 grit sand paper. 9. Wet sand with 600 grit sandpaper. 10. Compound and wax. Do this full procedure in air and surface temperatures above 60 degrees "F".
