Is there any secret remedy for removing scratches from Plexiglass windows, or does it simply mean a change out? Thanks for any help Dennis

Plexiglass

Well Dennis, it is easier to replace scratched plexiglass than to repair. However, if it can't be replaced and labor is cheap, I have successfully repaired scratches in aircraft windshields. Wag Aero at 1-800-558-6868 sells a Micro-Mesh kit for $21.50. The kit consists of a series of unique sandpaper sheets plus other things. What you do is slowly sand out the scratches by using finer and finer sandpaper. However, ordinary sandpaper will not work so don't try it

One more source,

TAP plastics has a kit like Jim mentioned and some aggresive polishs if the scratchs are not too bad

Novus

Novus plex polish has 3 grades of polis, from grittiest to finest. I believe 3M makes a polish as well.

If they aren't very deep, try Brasso

It was recommended by someone here a couple of seasons back and I tried it. It works well, but would take quite awhile to rub out any deep scratches. I had indentations in my portlights from the screens resting on the outside surface of the plexiglas and was able to buff them out so that I could see clearly through the lights. Tom Ehmke

Thanks all!

Thanks for the info, the scratches are not deep, and they cause just kind of a clouding when looking through the plexiglass! I will try some of these remedies! thanks again Dennis
