Island Packet 38 foot cutter. After looking at a lot of beautiful boats on the east coast of Georgia and Florida we took a break to pick the finalists. That night, on the net, Maria found this boat, for sale by owner. The price was out of reach but we thought why not see what "motavated seller" meant. We made clear this was a one time only offer, offered with respect and not meant to take advantage of anyone's finanical condition, and that we had no more funds left to spend. What we could spend didn't require finding financing. Being up front about whatever we could do in life has worked very well for us. No discussions, no dancing, just facts. Well, we now know what "motavated" means. She is a stunning boat fully set up for cruising. Twice across the Adlantic and the last years in the Caribbean. The condition of the boat is flawless with electronics we could only dream about. New life raft, tender, outboard, solar panels, radar, roller furlings, asymetrical spinnacker and you know the drill from here on. The survey was VERY thourough and she was flawless with only the addition of emergence wooden plugs suggested at the second thru-hull. Never ever could we see ourselves in this brand of boat. The owners have been helpfull in everyway and will help us learn to sail "Scooter" and learn to use her systems. Presently we will stay in the eastern Mississippi to northwestern Florida area and will move to the southern Florida late next spring. This is going to be a steep learning curve but promises to be one hell of a lot of fun. AND it won't be snowing through the school year! Ray & Maria S/V Scooter PS. our correct e-mail address is now on file on the owners site.

Don't know about Jim but I'm upset.

Hello Ray & Maria Congatulations. I have been looking at an IP 350 for several months. The factory sent a manual over from the states and boy oh boy it is very comprehensive. I really like the full length keel. There seems to be a general feeling amongst the cruising brigade that the IP is up there as one of the finest blue water yacht builders. From what I can gather there is only one in Australia and it is berthed in Northern Queensland. I have spoken to the owner ( seems quite a seasoned sailor) and this is his second IP. I am very very envious "however " the great news is that when you sail in here I might get the chance to test sail her which will save me having to go to the states :) Well done Ray, you will certainly enjoy sailing such a fine yacht. See you sooner than later.

Congratulations!

Happy sailing! You can't do much better than an Island Packet. Why not try to make it to St Pete for Strictly Sail in November? The IP factory is just up the road. Peter H23 "Raven"

congratulations Ray!

Ray, It's good to hear about someone living the dream. The wife and I are living cheap, and saving as much as we can to join the "Gone sailing club" that you have joined. We're 34 and 33 respectively and hope to join that club in 20 years or so. That sounds like an awful long time to wait. Are you looking for a cabin boy?

Ray, New Orleans isn't that far

Ray and Maria, You're close to New Orleans. Would love to meet you. Come visit Marlene and I. marleneotto@aol.com 504-466-0581 It would be a nice learning sail to Lake Pontchartrain. We have Kolbold Goldemar at South Shore Harbor Marina. We could provide transportation and "on shore" lodging if you would be interested. Marv Otto
