I have recently bought a 91 hunter 23. I'm looking for information on proper mast adjustments. Whats the proper tension on the forestay backstay and schrouds? whats the recommendid amount of mast bend? I would appreciate any relative information

There have been quite a few discussions on this subject in the past. May I suggest that you look through the archives? The link below points to quite a lively discussion on this very subject; I myself found this one to be very helpful when tuning the rigging on my own '23'. Have fun! Jim Maroldo s/v: Lil' Wass Ett

George, see the archive section for smaller boats

There has been a lot of info on this subject, in the last 3 months, that is very worth while to see and copy. Once you know how to do the tensioning you can contact Hunter Marine and they will supply the % of tension for the shrouds and stays. It is usually 20% of breaking strength. A "Loos gauge" costs $50 and takes the guess work out and when done you will not believe the change in your boats performance. I do mean "massive" in the change. You will point much better, you won't be able to tie knots in the leeward shrouds anymore and you will find the "about to break" items in your standing rigging before they gain the 5X increase in price. Enjoy going fast! Ray S/V Speedy
