Hello all. I have a A/B Frost Mate(air cooled) which I installed May of last year. For $580, I follow the direction to a T. The unit stopped running so I did the normal troubleshooting---nothing seemed to work. Then I looked at the control modual on the unit. Obviously the START of an electrical fire had occured. Total melt-down. I had an inline fuse connected and it was shot, so why did the meltdown occur? This concerns me a great deal for obvious reasons! Any ideas on why/how this happened and how to avoid it in the future?

Maybe some insight

I installed a Frostmate last fall that wouldn't start from the get go. It drove me insane and I, in turn, drove the A/B folks insane. They sent new control modules, etc. Turns out one of the connectors to the control unit was not fastened tight onto the wire going into the connector. When it finally came apart and we replaced the connector, the thing started up fine. This may have been due to a problem in the assembly line. I'm have limited electrical knowledge and understanding, but seems to me that the loose fitting could cause a short = fire. We'll see what other say.
