Recently we have received reports of scam attempts by members of our community.
The scam works this way:
The matter will be investigated and if it is a scam the offending member will be banned.
SBO does screen new member registrations, however, clever scammers can get around the screening system.
The scam works this way:
- Legitimate member posts he is looking for a piece of gear or boat part.
- Legitimate member receives a vaguely worded private message to contact xxxxx@xxx.com as he has the part.
- Legitimate member emails the contact who then requests payment.
- There is no business address, or business name listed on the email.
