Saturday's Forecast! Who's going Sailing?

Blue skies just now broke through after 3 days of heavy rain. And it is FRIDAY! And the forecast for Smith Mountain Lake, VA for Saturday is calling for 11 kt winds from a favorable direction, clear skies and cool temperatures..... PERFECT. Who is going sailing? I got room for a few additional crew... I'll be close hauled for much of the outbound leg but broad reaching and running most of the way home.

My club, on Lake Ontario, was suppose to launch this weekend but with the constant rain, high winds, and really high lake levels, the launch has been postponed indefinitely. Instead we are bring in sand and sand bags to protect our club house in case the lake rises another 2 feet.

I'm gonna guess that SML is going to be full of logs, still kettles, and Styrofoam cups washed down the river. I expect the same from that disaster called Conowingo up on the Susquehanna.

Thats not good, while our club is scheduled to launch with a crane tomorrow and the 12th I have my doubts for tomorrow, wind speed will make it real interesting if they do move forward with the plan, that is for sure, supposed to see gusts up to 35 Kts from the NNW

Plenty of logs on the Susquehanna yesterday. Can't imagine today's rains will help any.

I can certainly relate to that Doug, over here on this side it blowing and cold with no relief in sight, what happened to that nice weather in February that we had, really thought we were going to have a nice spring............ AH MICHIGAN

The thunderstorms seem to have passed. Today is supposed to hit 58 with rain showers, then it gets nice until next weekend when the rains some back. Next weekend is a gathering of Hunter Owners at Blake Island. It's about 6 1/2 hours away. I'd love to get out this week. We'll see what happens as the next weekend gets closer.

Yes I did and I've only got to go out once.... so I'm anxious.

Didn't go sailing today.... the promised sunshine did not appear... and it is only in the 40s. With strong wind, I'm guessing a day on the water will be frigid at the least.

I'm hoping tomorrow might be better.
