Pearson-O'Day 290 Portland Maine
I'm chartering a Catalina 30 in Sarasota Bay for a couple of days in February so I'm looking for places to go. One place should be a good anchoring spot, quiet, that sort of thing. The other should be a place with a guest mooring and a restaurant for sailors on a budget. We're disembarking around Sara Bay. Anybody?

Sarasota Bay has some nice sailing especially if it is blustery, as it can be, in Feb. Marina Jack's has a nice restaurant and docking facilities on the mainland side of the bay. Can't tell you about the budget end of it, however. If you venture out of the passes be sure to get reliable local knowledge. The passes on the west coast here are notorious for shoaling and fierce currents as the tide rises and falls. If you sail Maine, you know fierce currents. Have fun.
