The holding tank and head on our boat has been replaced by the previous owner trying to reduce odor. The vent line is way to long with loops and bends. I would like to reroute the lines and cross ventilate the tank as advised by Peggy in her book. (I would recommend this book to anyone.) Does anybody know where I could find the larger 3/4" or 1" deck vents? Thanks Ron

I also followed Peggy's advise with larger vent lines when I replaced my holding tank. My old vent was high on the starboard side. I just drilled it out to fit a standard 1" thru-hull. Vents great, is well above water line, makes a great way to simultaneously flush the tank while pumping out, which also insures the vent line stays clear. And no covers for bugs and spiders to build nests under. T J

"Vent" thru-hulls only come in one size...
'Cuz 5/8" is the "standard" size for water and fuel tanks, and all "vent" fittings are designed to be "one size fits all"--water, fuel, waste. So you have to use a bulkhead fitting as T.J. did if you go with a larger waste tank vent. And as he said, an open bulkhead thru-hull makes it a LOT easier to flush out the vent line.
