Sanitation Hose

Hi Peggy, I have a good one for you...

Recently, I had to haull out and replace a broken holding tank valve on my boat. The boat, a Jeanneau 49DS, has an electric toilet that feeds into the holding tank. The tank empties by gravity by opening a two inch valve. Between the tank and the valve is a 14 inch long section of 2 inch sanitation hose.

Fortunately, we were able to reuse the sanitation hose as I can't find 2 inch sanitation hose anywhere. Do you know a source???

Ummm... is that the I.D. or the O.D. ??? Or is that what is printed on the hose?

Beany Toes seem to use odd hose sizes..?? I participated with a friend in re plumbing a 42 that had a bunch of metric size hose that we ended up having to use pvc adaptors on.. The US hose sizes were either too small to heat stretch onto nozzles or too big to seal reliably.. Took a while.. but we never located a source of high quality sanitation hose in metric sizes. Sorry I can't be of help here..

The hose sizes are metric, so it's not exactly 2", that's just the closest match. The simplest solution is a PVC reducing adapter. These days just about anything is available on the 'net, so see if you can find one that adapts centimeters to inches. If not, 2" x 1.5" should work. You'll have better luck in finding that size at a hardware store than any marine source.

I figured I was going to have to go down this route. You would think that with all the Beneteau's and Jeanneau's being sold over here, someone would have stocked items that periodically need replacement. The system work great, but every one in a while a part is hard to come by. On the haulout and valve replacement, I replaced the metric thru hull and valve with American standard.

Guess the only other option is when I have to order something next time from Jeanneau, I toss in an order for sanitation hose.

Actually, you'd think that with all the Beneteaus...

And Jenneaus sold over here that their builders would use US standard fittings, hoses, etc on their "export" models. It's an issue that needs to be brought up to Beneteau and Jenneau dealers--loudly and often... If they don't have the clout to make that happen, then THEY'RE the ones who should have the replacement metric parts and hoses. Or at least stock the necessary hose reducing adapters. The market segment is too small to be profitable for anyone else to carry 'em.
