there are two types of lawrence hoses in my local shop, one is white and rather flexible, the other is black and much stiffer. both are reinforced to prevent kinking. my instinct is to buy the heavier hose but i am concerned about its flexibility when it comes to installation. the lighter hose concerns me regarding permeation. has anyone had any experience with these materials?

You don't want either one

Lawrence and MPI brand hoses are the least odor resistant of sanitation hoses. The only sanitation hose I recommend is SeaLand "OdorSafe" brand hose. Although it's considerably more expensive than other other hoses, it's so resistant to odor permeation that I've yet to hear of a single case of odor permeation failure in the 7-8 years it's been on the market, whereas most hoses--black or white--permeate in 2-5 years...sometimes within months. If you can't find it locally, give Sealand a call at 800-321-9886.
