Sanitation hose recommendation requested

I just ripped out ALL the sani hose on my 49. Miserable job!!
So, I’ve got to make choices on what to replace it with.
I need both 1” and 1-1/2” sizes

I’m looking at both Raritan & Trident
Need something that flexes easily, and will also fit over barb fittings.
All of my original hose was permeated, and the smell was getting noticeable once you lifted up floor boards.

Btw, I’ve come up with a few good tricks which I will post after the job is complete.

Hopefully, our patron saint “Peggy”, will chime in on this

My experience is that Trident is not flexible.

Someone recently told me that Raritan Saniflex was the easiest he has ever used (I have not used it, but a good reference).

Hi Art. Replaced our blocked aft head discharge hose with this product: Raritan Sani / Flex Sanitation Hose

Easy to work with and very flexible. Did a post awhile ago about the project and had several replies. That post is here: Clogged Sanitation Hose

A bit different issue than yours, but the post offers several problem solving ideas.

I used Shield’s sanitation hose from West Marine. Warming it with a hair dryer or heat gun softens it for both bending the hose and sliding it over hose barbs.

I believe that the existing hose I gave is Shields, and it started to smell 2 seasons ago. Thought it was a system leak at first, but it ended up being stinky hose. I’ll look into it though… thanks !!

I did mine with Santi Flex and I am very happy with the stuff so far. PO had used a "chemical rated" hose and varnished (or some kind of rubber paint) the OD of the hose to hinder permeation. It lasted about 25 years. The Sani Flex is expensive, but the stuff is easy to work with.

Raritan SaniFlex is the top rated sanitation hose for two reasons: it has a 10 year warranty against odor permeation and it's so flexible that it can be bent almost as tight as a hairpin (3.25" separation in a 180 degree bend) without kinking...making most re-hosing jobs a LOT easier. Available in 1" and 1.5"...Defender has it for about $10/ft and sell it by the foot (many retailers only offer 50' coils).

@Peggie Hall HeadMistress had on multiple threads identified Raritan’s Sani-flex hose as the best product. It scores on two key issues. Ease of install and denial of smell by permeated hose odor.

If these are your concerns then buy the Sani-flex. Defender has in the past been reported a good source.

:plus: for Saniflex.
Did you happen to use messenger lines or is your hose routing easy to pull new hose?

Just replaced all hoses and used both trident and saniflex. Both are reviewed positively but it's certainly true that saniflex is very flexible. If I redid the job I'd use all saniflex.

Hi Justin, perhaps the OP will reply to your message, but to your question, In our case I used a plastic barbed butt fitting to connect the new to the old, wrapped each connection with tape, then applied a lubricant to the new. Pulled right through, a quite long route mostly hidden.

Maybe SBO can create a message bot that replies on your behalf with your oft repeated answers.
You don't think I'm smart enough to create one of my own? It's not quite a bot...it's a file on my desktop that I do have to access and select the appropriate reply...and occasionally add and/or edit.

I’ve had no odor problems, but I also regularly use large doses of scented holding tank treatment and pump out frequently because my tank is rather small. Take Peggy’s recommendation over anyone else here, including me.

I’m leaning towards this.
Good reviews.
thanks !!!
