Graceful-lee has the finish coat of paint on. Boot stripe, rub rail, name/registration numbers, bottom paint and regular spring commissioning still to go. Here a few pics that show the process so far.

That's quite a toe rail cap they added. Did you specify that? It looks a lot thicker than the OEM toe rail cap.

That was actually put on by the PO that salvaged the boat after hurricane Gloria. We did the repair by laminating a piece of teak after we cut out the damaged area. Your seeing the final touches in that shot.

Marine paint sure is expensive but results like this says it's well worth it. Looks GREAT!

Thanks have to go to Ricky Nordoff, Sailing Emporium and Progressive. Ricky is a well known fiberglass and paint guy on the Eastern Shore. He is quite the artisan. Sailing Emporium was very accommodating with the project. Progressive was fair and responsive in the claims process.

Beautiful color choice. What type of paint was used? Did it lay that nice or did it need to be wet sanded and polished?

It is Awlgrip paint. Just about the entire hull was sanded, substrate repaired and resanded, then painted with high build primer. In the third picture the boat is being sanded after the high build primer. The black areas low spots that are being faired.

99% finished. Rub rail and name reinstalled. Ready to go in the water. The base of the rub rail bent easily with a heat gun. We use insulating foil to protect the paint. The black insert was left out in the sun while the base was being installed and it was very easy to work with. Two errors in the process. I dragged the black insert over the marina stones to put it in place and it became scuffed. Most was removed with a cleaner but some scratches remained. Secondly we used fast drying 3M 4,000 caulk on the top seam and we were not able to keep up with the finish wipe before it dried. Its a mess. It will need to be removed a re-caulked. Does anyone have any suggestions for caulk removal? I added a picture of the old name to compare with the new. Can you notice any differences or misalignment?

Great stuff

You had and once again have a beautiful boat.

I noticed that you have a canvas cover. I'm thinking of getting one as well. What do you think of yours and do you have any advice?

Thanks for the positive feedback. The canvas cover was made by my brother in law from about 10 heavy canvas tarps that I bought from a guy that was planning to use them to cover his new Beneteau 47. He soon found out that he was not going to be able to make it work without specially fitting them. He sold the tarps to me for $200.00. Brother in law bought a sailrite machine and turned them into a costume fitted cover. He has since made a new main sail cover, head sail furling cover, binical cover and is currently building a new dodger. As you would imagine, he gets plenty of boat time in trade.
