Sanding epoxy?

I am sanding off my ablative bottom paint, and when I hit the Interprotect barrier coat, my sanding discs stop cutting effectively after about 18 square inches. I am using a 60 grit 5" disc with a random orbital sander and vacuum. The place where I bought the discs said they were aluminum oxid. Any suggestions as to what I should be using that would not dull so quickly?

Not all sanding discs are created equally. I love being cheap but this is one of those things where you get what you pay for.
BTW I love the Oday 34. I wanted an Oday instead of a catalina but it didn't work out until after I agreed to buy my C30. Some things aren't meant to be.
Be sure to use a mask to not breath in any dust from the ablative.
When I did a bottom job, I used Harbor freight 7" 80 grit discs, but I didn't have any epoxy to deal with only original polyester and a few layers of ablative.

Why

Why would you want to remove the barrier coat. I think I would go down to the barrier coat, and add bottom paint. Is there some special reason to remove it.

Not removing the epoxy -

but when I applied it a few years ago with a roller, it went on with an orange peel texture which I wasn't concerned about since I was going to use ablative bottom paint. Now that I want to switch to VC17, I am trying to remove all the ablative from the little pits in the orange peel, and get the barrier coat smooth.
