Sand and treat prop/strut with anti fouling?

Boat is hauled out. I am using an orbital sander with 120 grit to clean the prop and strut (is there a better method?).

Is there a best practice to keeping barnacles from growing on the prop and strut? I have seen fairly involved articles on this topic, but am curious what folks’ direct experience is. I don’t plan to haul out for another 3 years.

Currently I am considering purchasing and applying some Pettit Barnacle Barrier.

I don't know that I would sand the prop. You might create crevices that could encourage barnacle adhesion; but then, maybe help paint adhesion! :)

Use Rustoleum Cold Galvanize spray. Same stuff as the Pettit Barnacle Barrier except very much less expensive. $10 for 20 oz vs Pettit $30+ for 16oz.
