How is the anchorage at thee nd of San Domingo Creek and ho far is to dingy to the town? Any land/watermarks to go by? I can see Red "14" PA in my chart book, is this the last nav aid in the creek? I alway use the Miles River but my schedule is to go to Oxford after St Michaels and later Cambridge. Thanks, Velero

Local knowledge

Thanks Ross for the source, but I have a couple of charts/books and they all have the same scale. I was I looking perhaps for some local knowledge or someone that has been there in the last few months.

San Domingo Creek

Valero:

On your way up the San Domingo, there are two side creeks off to port. Once you get past the first one, the channel narrows up but is passable. I wouldn't go past the second side creek. In the area between the side creeks, the San Domingo is wide enough to anchor one boat across. I prefer to anchor in the wider areas where the side creeks join in. Any place along here is only 1/3-1/2 nm from the landing on the edge of St. Michaels.

Set your anchor well! Holding is not particularly good along here. If you are expecting a wind shift, you might want to go with two anchors.

Velero,

"Even Keel"'s info is good., although anchoring just inside the 2d creek on the left is also OK. The last time I was up there, I found it necessary to anchor there because the remainder of the anchorage was full of boats.
