Okay, so a guy walks in to Sam's club with exactly $300 to buy 2 batteries to replace his size 31's. No sweat. First off, the size at Sam's is 29, not the 31. So why are the AGMS's 31's? So who cares- that's not what I'm buying. Then on to checking for the batch and manufactured date draws a blank. Went and asked "the man" while my first mate calls the 800 number on the battery label. She gets bounced around the phone system like a tennis ball. The man, into his file cabinet, can not find the answer. Over to the rack, from between two batteries on another shelf, he pulls out the catalog. Therein we found "the chart".

So now I know the months have a letter and the year has a number. What letter/number? Oh! We had put the batteries all in a nice row, with the "round one-inch stickers" facing the boxes of gallons of water. The hidden ends had stickers with a J1 or a C2 on them. The J1 meaning September 2011, the C2 meaning March of 2012. Holy smokes, these were almost hot off the press! We got just the ones made in March, and being so fresh, we decided to get three.

The cashier tried to explain the core charge. I knew what she meant, but she was not saying it. So, three batteries, core charge (times 3) and tax meant, out of $300, I got change of $2.12. It's all enough to drive a person to drink... but the sodas were$2.25... and I only had $2.12

Ron that's almost as bad as having lunch in Annapolis and coming home with a LSZ-1 sewing machine. At least you got change.

You do not go shopping at Costco, you go buying. They don't have knoledgeable sales associates but good all stock boys so you need to do your homework. It would also help to get your priorities in order. If you realized after a while that you would need a drink then why purchase three batteries instead of two? Don't understand.

The 3 batteries charged up to full after a day on the shore power charger. Solar will top them off during the week. Then I'll do a discharge cycle, etc. The one thing I don't like about the Duracells is the pos post is 5/16, same as neg.

A lot of manufacturers are moving to that protocol... Seems they get lots of complaints with two different sized studs and the industry has not accepted a standard for post sizes..
