Here is a photo of the salvage yard where I make my pilgrimages to: not the picture with the front of the red trtuck, and not the starboard pictures, but if you look at the boats from port side, you will spot the Hunter 33 (1982) I scavanged from
I picked it clean, I reckon I could build another boat like it!
If you ever want anything, please contact me

Reminds me of my youth. Back then it was an auto salvage yard and we were building hot rods. Those yards were gold mines. A Chrysler Hemi will go through a '40 Ford ring and pinion about once a week! But the yacht boneyards are sad in a way. Different from auto yards where most of the cars were junk to begin with. Those sailboats were somebody's dream until Mother Nature got them.

Be sure to tell him Jorge Fife put you on to him
I was his first customer, and still go there at least twice a month

And Ed,
You are so right: some of these boats still have the personal things that belonged to families, like teddy bears, clothing, hairdrires, plates, etc
It breaks my heart to remove stuff from some of them, and the fact they did not retrieve their personal belongings tells me they were so traumatized they chose to walk away from it all
You have no idea what a destructive force Ike really was: my Hunter came out of it's moorings and rested on top of a tree, with the mast all around it: by miracle the mast was perfect; it came to rest 300 feet away, with damage to one side, where stanchions, hand rails were ripped off from the boat there were boats on the main streets of Galveston, like motorcars
I saw a boat on top of a Restaurant: my Marina had 12 feet of water above street level!
