I am moving my boat again and this time we are returning home to saltwater. I currently have VC17 on my boat am wondering what others have done. My thoughts were that I might need to remove the VC17 down to the gelcoat. I bought the boat used about 1 1/2 years ago and am not sure whats under the existing paint. thanks for the help

I'm no paint expert...

But my intuition tells me that you would have to remove VC-17 before repainting with just about anything other than VC-17.

I used VC offshore

after sanding the VC 17 not to the gelcoat. Worked well except the grass line I picked up in the Bahamas.

Been there, Done That!

Nothing sticks to VC17 with teflon. It all has to be sanded off before you apply new paint. Interlux will confirm this

Well, I bought VC Offshore from Sailor's Exchange in St Augustine for $5/litre.Thinned it with xylene (on the label).Applied it until I ran out. at the time I was using VC17 and while Interlux said they were incompatible it lasted 3 years.$15 later and two dives(free)I feel opinions and free advice are moot.
