Just down the road is one of the most popular restaurants in the Pensacola area.
They are having a problem with the salt shakers plugging up on these humid summer days.
Any body have a good idea on to keep the shaker's head cleaned up so the salt shakes out ?

I have frequently seen rice added. It absorbs the humidity before the salt does.

Uncooked rice is the answer. I have seen it in many restaurants in South Louisiana where the humidity can be unbearable in the summer months.

Tell them they need to use "Marine" quality salt.

We put rice inside teabags and then leave them inside the sugar and coffee creamer jugs. Rice in salt shaker will work. Many restaurants do that.

The rice also serve to knock the salt loose from around the holes. Shaking salt onto steaming hot food will get a lot of condensate on the shaker.

You can buy sea salt in little grinder bottles. Some brands, you can open the bottles up and refill them (kosher salt may be cheaper than sea salt). Large grain salt doesn't clump as easily.
