Tap the compression post where the weight would be when the table is at normal height and put ia screw in the tapped hole against the weight. remove the screw when you want to raise/lower the table.

Rather than a screw, install a thumb screw. This will allow easy loosening and tightening with no need for tools. I placed mine about six inches below the table bottom in its normal position.
