A couple of months ago, there was some discussion of problems in lowering the salon table to make up a double berth on some boats. The table takes a lot of force to push down into position. I assumed (and I think others did too) that there was some excessive friction (corrosion? tube deformation?) in the telescoping leg. Last weekend, I removed the table on my '89 H30G to reinforce the mounting because the table was a little wobbly. I found that there is a high-pressure gas cyclinder (like what holds up the back hatch in a minivan) in the table leg. It takes a lot of force to compress this cylinder, but once you know its there, it works smoothly. And you don't have to lift the table to get it back up. My owner's manual doesn't say a word about this. FYI.
