Salon Stairs

My wife and I went to Strictly Sail St Pete last week and once again came away convinced we bought the right boat 2 years ago (Catalina 310, hull #310). The only thing we don't like by comparison to other boats including the 309 is the crummy looking stairs from the cockpit down to the salon. The fabric (or whatever it is) pads look bad, stain easily and, here in Florida, move around once the sun heats up the adhesive backing. At the boat show, the stairs were all made of nice looking teak or laminate. My question is, what solutions are there? I'd like to have nice wood or wood-looking pads to step on when we go below. Anyone aware of any such inserts to put in place of the fabric pads? Anyone made them themselves? If so, how and what materials? Alternatively, can replacement stairs be purchased? If so, where? All your ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried Catalina

and asked them? If you are comparing boats, did you measure say the 309 step width to see if they'd fit your boat?

You might check with Catalina to see if the 320 companionway stairs will fit your 310.

I agree about stairs being tacky

The adhesive holds dirt and your right-when things heat up the rubber pads move.
