salon hatch, forward or aft facing?

i am about to replace my original pop up orange plastic hatch on a '76 hunter 30. i am using a new bomar hatch, my question should it open facing the bow or the stern?i think i seen them install both ways.regards,mike"sound the alarm"

Mike, do you have a forward berth hatch that...

opens toward the bow? If not it helps to have at least one hatch that open facing the bow so that you get good ventilation during the warm summer months.Terry

Mike, as long as you have at least one hatch...

facing the bow the salon hatch is a matter of personal preference. Our salon hatch faces the stern.Terry
