Found this SV Panope video from a 2022 cruise by the Steve - Anchoring Wizard of Port Townsend.

The images are Salish Sea spectacular. To include a run into Princess Louisa Inlet. This is one of my bucket list sites.
This summer on the priority list.

Nice to see others enjoying my home waters as much as I do. I’m sure I’ve done Princess Louisa at least twenty times over four different boats, it’s always a treat.

Our renewed Certificate of Documentation just arrived in the mail; $26. Good for another year. Woohoo. We have the number on a placard permanently mounted in the bilge in the event a CG inspector wants to see it. Of the two inspections that we've had over the years, none asked to see the placard. Safety equipment and documentation seems to be their main concern, especially expired fire extinguishers.

My Certification # is attached to the hull, viewed by opening the lazerret hatch.

When I had the CG Auxiliary aboard in the marina to do a start of season safety check, they asked to see and verify that the number matched the certificate documentation. When you pass the inspection, they issue you a sticker you can place on your port.

It shows an inspection team cruising by your boat that you are in compliance. They may just cruise on by and pester some other unlucky boater.

We were under sail when the USCG hailed us "Captain heave-to". I complied quickly.

I had 3 others in the cockpit.

One USCG [side arm, radio, life vest, and non skid boots] stepped aboard with my main sail flapping in the breeze.

He asked "Who is the Captain?"

All 3 in the Cockpit quickly pointed at me and he "HE IS"!! :yikes:

He did go below quickly checked Holding tanks levels, Fire extinguishers, asked about life vests, Marine Radio, etc.

He then thanked the Captain, left saying all was good and have a nice sail.

So now you all know I am not the Skipper, but the Captain of my boat!

Captain Jim...
