Ahoy there Mates. What is the standard size for the Vega headsail?
The one that came with my boat is a rather large 166% genoa. It is no
longer useful. Is performance going to diminish noticeably if I went
down to a 150% ? I will be using a furler. Also, could someone tell me
the dimensions for a main sail cover (length and height at the foreward
end). Thanks, Trevor V2915 Mystic Rose

Trevor,
Jib size depends a lot on the area you sail in. I removed my 150
furling jib and made a 120 with a fairly high clew. This serves me
well in the areas I sail in, and I'm very happy with the design. It's
a little lacking in very light air, but is great up to about 20
knots, then I furl it to about a 80% or 90% for heavier weather.
Visibility forward is great, and it doesn't catch too much water in
heavy seas.

I use the 150 in light air.

Trevor, on the Tern the mainsail cover measures 48" at the mast
and 14" at the boom end. It is 12' long. I am assuming you are only
trying to guess how much material you might need and this does not
allow much for hems or shrinkage. I would guess that 5 yds of
Sunbrella would yield one half of the cover, 1 weather cloth (about
16" x 70" plus hems) , and a sheet bag. Also, there is a sail plan in
the files section. hope this helps a bit.

Hi Trevor as I recall for a Series1 the working sail area was 300 sq ft
being equally divide btween the main and jib. Jib being a number 1 (100%).
If I'm wrong please correct me. Walt
