Sails ready... can anyone create time?

Sails packed, hull polished ... Trailer greased... Weather is great.. Now... no TIME... My wife insisted I not buy a sailboat that just sits on the trailer in the yard like a big tree-house. So I bought the more practical boat that was ready to sail, but now I may have to look at it in the driveway for another month, till our schedules open a bit. Are "dream voyages" my destiny? Or, should I just quit my job (3 kids in college), and go sailing?

The grass is always greener...

If you lived in Florida, you could be sailing right now. To illustrate my point, I am leaving the office in 15 min. and will be shoving off within the hour. Of course, the sailing season here ends in about six weeks and there won't be any more sailing until mid to late October. The summers here are very hot with very little wind, except when the daily thunderstorms roll in. I would move to the Keys, except that's probably the worst place to be during hurricane season.... Still think your wait is hard to deal with? Peter H23 "Raven"

Quit your jobs

make the kids pay for their own college (loans are pretty easy to get - I know from experience!) and take off. :) LaDonna

Teach kids to sail.

I'd like to quit working, and sail. Actually, my initial motivation for learning to sail was to teach my kids to sail. I've been a concert pianist--my kids can barely play chop-sticks. 20 years a pilot--one child took one lesson in a Cessna and nearly freaked out over the Mississippi River. A builder, electrician, plumbing contractor-- my kids still hire people to adjust their closet poles. So, I reasoned that if I could pass one talent over to my children... it would be to sail. So far, my 23 year old (Marilyn Manson type) boy, set foot on the sailboat once. Gilligan's 3-hr. tour was longer. I could: Give those kids an education---a sailing education.

borrowed time

I've been a paramedic in FL for fifteen years and strongly live by the idea that we are only borrowing time on this round ball called earth. If you have good health than ENJOY IT NOW!!! It wont last. Go sailing and enjoy every sunrise and sunset. Enjoy the watching the birds as they sit on your spreader and crap on your boat, be glad you can see it at all, much less from your own boat. If you havn't figured it out yet I vote for quitting your job and taking off to see everything you can, even if it just a small lake in your area you've never sailed on before, do it while you still can.

Found time...

We made time to go sailing, and had a great time. What was planned as a half day, lasted all day. Not enough room here to tell everything. We just have to step away from all the things in life that try to steal our time---and make a go of it.
