I am tired of scanning ebay for the right sails for my boat. Its an oday 25 with centerboard. I did purchase a used midsized jib. I desperatly need a mainsail. anyone with a decent one for resonable price?????
Try Minney's Yacht Surplus in Costa Mesa, Ca. They're on the web at www.minneysyachtsurplus.com. I bought a used Genoa from them for a dirt cheap price. That sail really makes my Oday 26 really fly in the light winds of Southen California. I had to clean the sail and put new hanks on it, but that was easy.
Thanks for the links ya'll. But I did'nt find a mainsail for the oday 25. My luff is 24.5, leech 25.69, foot 9.0. These dimensions are from sailrite, the closest one was for a hobie mainsail. do you think a light cat sail will work well on a heavy cruiser? thanks again
If you are having trouble finding the correct main sail, go for the cheapest and closest sail to the dimensions. (example hunter 22 23.5 luff24.75 leech 8.6foot)It would be like sailing with a slightly reefed main.I have an O'Day 25 cb and I also have a boom tent. The wife doesn't always care for the sun so I just leave the boom tent up and sail on the jib. The boat is still quit fast with just the jib. I sail often at hull speed with about 110% to 130% (furled 155) sail and the boom tent in 10 to 15 knot winds.Get a sail and be picky later.....r.w.landau
Hello,I too have an Oday 25 Centerboard, 1979. Luckily my sails are in good shape, knock on wood. Have you checked at Dons Surplus in Clearwater yet or the local Yacht clubs? I know that Davis Islands has an extensive bulletin board with tons of gear and sails/masts for sale. I will keep my eyes open for you too.Ross
No I hav'nt been out looking. So far the extent of my search has been online. What with working (twelve hour shift) and working on the boat and other "honey does" i can't go trapseing around much. DOes Don's have a web site with listing of sail inventory? I like the prices at the posted site in Cali. thanks for keeping an eye out.
there is a Hunter 22 main in the gear hear section of this site. He is asking, $200 sounds like he just want to sell it. Call him and make an offer. That post has been there awhile. A new main from Sail Warehouse would be about $550. I bought a used main this year for $150. I sold my old one to Clay from NY. I am hoping to buy or build a new main for next season.fair winds,r.w.landau
