Looking for a small jib -- used or new. Hanked set up. Any suggestions very much appreciated. Michael

Greta (our O'Day 22) came with a 150% Genona with a furler and an extra standard size hank-on jib. We don't use or need the standard jib and would like to sell it. I'll lay it out and take some pictures.

You can call any sailmaker and they will give you a quote on a new sail. Give me the dimensions of your luff measurement (stretched out) and maybe I have something. Otherwise, contact Bacon and Associates in Annapolis Md. They have thousands of sails and you can see what they have on line (but you need to know your luff measurement).

Thanks to you both. I'll get measurements out when I am back w the boat in a few weeks. Dear Bellnier, If you could get me similar measurements that would be great. Best Michael

i'm a little confused with sail terminology. The leading edge of the sail where the hank-ons are is a bit over 21'. The bottom edge is 8'. The rear edge is 19'. BTW the sail looks like it's never been used. Some rust stains probably due to improper storage. Sail has the number 091711 0016 stamped on it. Don't know what the number is.

Leading edge of any sail (main or jib, genoa) is the Luff. The bottom is the foot and the trailing edge is the Leech. The lower, forward corner is the Tack. The upper corner is the Head. The aft lower corner is the Clew.

The number that is stamped on your sail is the "Serial Number" I assume, since my DS II Sails (also Neil Pryde) have numbers stamped on them like that.

Thanks Sunbird! That's the diagram that I couldn't find. So then my jib has a 21+' luff, 8' foot and 19' leech. My measurements were taken with the sail laying on the deck and not stretched. I’m still confused by the J & I dimensions. J is clearly the foot but is the I the leech (the distance from head to clew) or is it from the head to the deck?

J and I are RIG measurements and are independant of sail measurements, I found a good diagram over on the ASK AN O'DAY OWNER page, it will help both of us? "I" is the full height of the foretriangle, it would be from the masthead to the deck level. "J" is from Mast to forestay (at tack fitting).

I have done my measurements and I think I can use your standard jib to replace my current one. How much would you be asking for it?
