The only thing good about the Sails Call Lounge is the Boat Babe.The rest of it is just whining and bellyaching by a bunch of ultra liberal wennies.

Only one good thread and it has been dying a slow death ever since it was moved over. I'm always depressed after reading some of the threads and realizing there are actually people out there that actually believe some of that drivel.

Don't be depressed. We live in a nation of drivelers. Some of them even spell as well as our beloved leader! That doesn't mean, by itself, that they cannot sail (as we all know, the true measure of non-whining manly men (ooh-rah, woof, woof, woof)). I wonder out of which side you are expressing your disbelief.

By virture of the fact...

That you even asked that question, Phil of Geneva, tells me your beliefs were challenged. Does it matter? I'd rather have a non spelling sailor on my boat who will take action when needed than a sailor who is unsure of what to do.

Not beliefs, values. Not challenged, some more obnoxious word goes here (I won't stretch, lest I'm accused of having too large a vocabulary). I hereby formally apologize for my last post. It was a gut reaction to the foul stench of conservative intolerance. But I do have a cold at the moment and I'm a little twitchy from too much caffeine. Perhaps I was mistaken. It's been known to happen. Even presidents have been known to make errors. Some even openly admit it. But this isnt' really a thread about politics, is it? While I'm at it, I'll apologize for this post too, that way I won't feel obliged to continue on in this thread. I'm sure you're a great guy, Brian D. I don't want to waste any more of your time on something that doesn't matter to you anyway.On the other hand, I can't resist extending your metaphor. I'd rather have a sailor at the helm that can adjust his course for conditions, not one who locks down the wheel, shuts his eyes and plugs his ears.By the way, I don't post in Sails Call for a variety of reasons, and while I don't think there's anything wrong with a well cut bikini, there was something desperately puerile about the BoatBabe thread and some of its more devoted participants. I think early discussion of that thread (pre-Sails Call) invoked the old man in a trenchcoat image. I haven't followed it, but I imagine not much has changed.Ok, that's enough of that. Flame on.

Wind dance

Does the Sails Call lounge have a non-denominational corner for doing some sort of ritual to appease the gods of the winds?BrD - speaking of swinging sticks and Throwing Stones -> "Ashes, ashes, all fall down" Beautiful imagery. How many times can I fall into the trap of thinking that my image is the same as the other guys? Razor's Edge?Sorry Stu, it must be all this talk of winterization starting to get to me.

Awwwwh Stu, Doncha know that it is a PITA

to go jumping back and forth between forums? Just sooooo much fun to put all of the opinions back on the page with serious discussions. Sometime check out the Wooden Boat forum format. Those guys(the members) police the posts and will tell you shortly that your post belongs in the bilge if that's where it should be. The bilge is a no holds barred forum. Only personel threats will get you banned. ;-)

You can't believe everything (I'd say anything but that would be inflamatory) you see/hear in the news media. Folks in high (and low) places are making decision, keeping their eyes wide open and listening. They just are not looking or listining to folks like you who go off half cocked with a lot of bad info. I'm getting ready to rotate into Iraq tomorrow and if any of my previous experiences count, the news media and congress will get what we are doing over there all screwed up. The word from the horse's mouth is "we are having a positive effect, Al Qada is on the ropes and going down for the count and the Iraqi government couldn't lead it's self out of a wet paper bag. Course just because they are a bunch of "dumb bunnies" doesen't mean we should abandon them. You see abandoning them would mean that Al-Qada would be coming to a theater near YOU real soon. Do you want to have your wife or kids participate in a dynamic kenitic event???? I don't want my family at risk or your's either.So shut up and let us do our job of protecting you! GADS, I almost started on the "you can't handle the truth" tyrade.I am proud to go down range and risk my life so that ALL of us can be safe. I do get a serious pain in my patoot when I have to listen to folks rant about how we are doing it. If you are so smart, offer up something besides 'run away and hope they don't keep attacking us' or better yet sign up and get your butt in the grass. I garintee I'll shut my mouth and support you 110% if your butt is in the grass with mine no matter what your view is. Till that time, I'll give you this to consider: A man with an experience is never at the mercy of a man with a theory.I love you man!

You sounds like someone that gets all his his info from biased sources that get them from people with an agenda. Not always the truth, but damn I bet it makes you feel good.Step back and COMPREHEND what I just wrote.Take another minute.Come on think real hard -- outside your myopic veiwIf you can't then "You can't handle the truth". You don't get your info from biased sources that get them from people with an agenda do you. You get them from the unbiased propaganda of the Bushies, right. Not always the truth, but damn I bet it makes you feel good.Think for just one minute about it, ....get the picture.This administration has not only screwed the world with their double talk, lies and half truths, but has divided this country worse than the Civil War did. Years ago I wasted far too much time in "thoughtful" forums on Philosophy and Science&Religion. Do you know who always shouted at me in capital letters there? Fundamentalist Christians. They were sure they had every answer and that everyone else was going to hell on a fast train. Muslims? Every one a murderer. Homosexuals? Going straight to the devil. Evolution? Not on your life. I'm no ape. The Earth is only thousands of years old and every bit of scientific data that says otherwise is wrong, or falsified, or... you get the picture. Intelligent Design. It's far too complicated to ever understand biological questions, therefore it must have been God, er, I mean, an intelligent designer. They had websites, game plans, "how to defeat a liberal in conversation" tutorials, real heart warming Christian ethic stuff, you know, like bombing the crap out of your neighbor (to help him of course).I don't know your background Old Salt, but my experience with pro-Bush, pro-war, the-other-guy-is-an-idiot-because-he-dared-to-disagree people is that they interact with me just like fundamentalist Christians. I've had enough of that to last me another decade or two. Let someone else bang that wall for some time. In the end, it all fits together in a way that is quite pleasing. I'm taking Stus advice and going sailing.I suppose I'll burn that much hotter for it, but again, I can't resist. I "... sounds like someone that gets ..."? You bet, me and my childrens too.
