Captains, I recently aquired this 21 ft. sailboat here in tucson, az.. I was in this same boat a year ago. There had been a sailboat in the grocery store parking lot for two years for sale and I thought at $2000 that it was a fair price considering that it came with sails and a trailer. It was about the same length as the one you got. Before buying it I decided to check a little on the Internet as I was in the same boat you and your cats are in now knowledge wise. I found out that a more realistic price for it was about $700 including the trailer, so we passed and started looking and found our present Mac 26S. Now I'm really glad that I didn't invest my time and money in the other boat.
At this point we don't know what you paid for the boat, what it came with, what it is missing and/or the condition of the inside and the outside. Maybe giving a better description and more pictures of what you have would get a more detailed answer as to what direction you should go in.
Also do you plan on doing any required work and where would you like to sail it?

I would like to thank you for the information that you have provided me with. I paid $40.00 dollars for the boat and trailer, it has aone big new mail sail that I found after I was able to actually enter into the galley of the boat it seemed that a couple of pack rats had decided that a dry dock was as good as it was going to get and had moved in, ive never seen more mesquite beans and cactus in a boat in my life. So I hope that with my little investment of cash and some elbow grease that this wasn't to bad, it's really not bad for a boat thats been sitting since 1983, so thatnk yoou much and god bless you bubbaaaa

I agree that it looks to be a Luger. These were kit boats, if my memory serves me. From your post it sounds like you have a main sail - what about a jib? The main is probably in pretty poor condition, but if you sail in modest conditions you should be OK. Check this link: http://lmlod.tripod.com/index.html
Welcome to boat ownership and sailing. You will find that we are a good bunch and there is a lot of information on here. If you have any questions about repair work or want some second opinions on things this is a good place to go. Don't be afraid to ask any question and the only bad question is the one that wasn't asked. There are experts on here that have done every form and fashion of refab and rebuilding.

Again thank you all for the wealth of information, my father was in the Navy and from as far back as I can remember, we had boats, at least two or three anyway. But my father bless his soul would roll over in his grave if he knew I had a sail boat. I mean power boats yea but a sailboat? But it's kind of like when I bought a 68 ford T-Bird he bout had a heart attact and was quick to let me know just how big a mistake I had made buying it. After my mothers father died in Ok. they were driving back to the fiuneral I talked them into taking the T-Bird, whrn they returned my father ate crow and told me if I decided to ever sell that car he wanted it. So with that all in mind I was on craigslist and saw this boat that the property owners wanted to get off thier property and well here we are. I am going to upload a few more pics of thid boat in the condition it was in when I picked it up ( don't laugh ) rome wasn't built in a day.

Welcome to the wonderful world of 'blow boating' where you don't use much gas and if the wind is up you move for free.
Those 'before' photos are something else but I suspect you got your $40 worth of boat and that homeowner got that eyesore off his/her property without having to pay to have it hauled. It will be interesting to see some 'after' photos once you have cleaned it up a bit.
