I know nothing about aluminum hull construction, so do you put the 'zincs' over the three coats of primer? I know that's a no-no for regular zincs on stainless and bronze shafts. Just wondered.

The answer to that is no. I know nothing of this girl or her boat, and forgive me for saying I don't care. But I have seen, and doctored on bigger steel and aluminum vessels, and there is some confusion there. The tugs paint the entire bottom, then apply zinc plates assuming the paint protects what is behind the zinc, and the fasteners make the connection for the two. It's kind of easy to see why this doesn't work long, the bolts give way too quick, leaving a plate just dangling from the fastener. The plate needs bolted tightly to the hull, then painted around it.
