I can't believe what a great day sailing today.
I am not trying to rub it in or any thing just can't believe the great weather we are having here in Florida,Charlotte Harbor.
Last Friday I had to go easy with some friends out sailing for their first time on a sailboat and they have know idea what they were doing but any way with jib only we were hitting 7knts SOG.
Today with the main reefed half way trying to keep the boating from heeling too much we were hitting 7.4 knts and the harbor was pretty empty at that.
It doesn't get much better than this real warm and brezzy and great friends
sailing around Charlotte Harbor,FL.

Fabulous Weather

Same here in Amelia Island

Warm breezes 10-15 knots with calm seas

After this winter in Northern Florida it is a pleasure to have summer back

Even the water has warmed up

I dove under the boat today to check zincs and clean the bottom

Every thing seemed fine , almost two years since bottom job and the only areas that need paint are the bottom of the keel. Got to make a note not to touch bottom so often

Hope all is well

Soon

Yes I need to dive and check my bottom and folding prop, winter was very cold here too and so nice now for sailing.
Had some back surgery a month ago( X-Stop spaces) and feeling pretty good so may dive this week with the water warm already.
Good wind today 15-20 but very choppy and lumpy in the Harbor out of the SW.

Well we are here in Florida Nick. Not sure when I will get down to Tampa to sail or even see the boat. Actually too hot for my liking but beggars can't be choosers. Good to see that you are back out there.

Welcome to Florida

Yes it is very hot but the wind has been to die for and so once out on the water it is not hot at all,if you think it's hot now you should see in July and August so hot and no wind it is like an oven.
I was going to anchor out yesterday and dive under and check my Flex o Fold but it was so windy I did not want to stop sailing it was so good.
I am hoping to do some over nighters soon before it really gets hot but been busy with so much going on,I promised I will do it soon.
Enjoy your boat while here and keep in touch and maybe we hook up for a cold drink.
I have been invited to go sailing on a friends boats to the Bahama's the end of june for about two weeks before he takes it up tp NYso looking forward to that before we go to NY.

We plan to get down there on Memorial Day and spend a week messing with the boat and doing some sailing in the harbor. I have a list of boat projects as well.

Been anchored out at Pelican Bay for a week. Just got back yesterday. Great reach from the ICW to Burnt Store in 15 knots, the wind died going north up the harbor. Had to motor last couple of miles. Did small projects on boat, walked on the beach and park trails. Had a cell phone amplifier which helped with internet access but it was slow. Strong southeasterlies, almost like a trade wind anchorage. Boat is coming along, but still lots of projects. We're going back out probably thursday You all need to go out now. Too soon it will be hot and humid. Big gathering PGSC Memorial day picnic at Pelican Bay if y'all can make it.

Go Sailing

ED yes go sailing when we have wind like this it's really nice out on the water, sure in at the slip if protected from the wind it's hot and I sweat like a hose on my head but once out in the open wind it's great out sailing and yesterday all six of us past on going swimming it was so cool in the cockpit
with my bimini and dodger and connector kept the sun off us.
In June with less wind and hot it's every body in for some swimming.

Pelican Bay is between Cayo Costa and Punta Blanca Island, also part of the state park. It extends a mile or so from ICW 74 just south of Boca Grande Pass. There is open (shallow) water to the south east for another mile or so as far as ICW 60 by world famous Cabbage Key (Home of the $27 hamburger LT&O extra, Cheese, don't ask!) When we were there we were as far south and east as deep water runs. About twice as far in as the arrow on the photo shows
