I am sailing out to Block Island this weekend for the first time. I will be heading to the Great Salt Pond. Are there any specific areas I need to watch out for on the approach to the island,and where is the best place to overnight? I have heard a lot about Champlains and would like to pick up a mooring there so the kids have activities to keep them busy. Has anyone stayed there? How are the facilities? If I can't get there, I will try for a town mooring, but I hear they go fast on the weekends. A last resort will be anchoring out, but I am curious if there are showers available for the public. Any information you could forward would be greatly appreciated. Ed
