I am looking for some new sailing ground. Charleston is close to me, but I've been there a number of times. St Helena looks pretty good...Maybe with an anchorage near edisto? Does anyone know what the waters are like and some good anchorages? Thanks, Richard

Not exactly...

a great place to sail unless you head out offshore. Lots of shoaling and current. Just off to the west of the ICW on the Ashpoo and s. edisto rivers there are a couple of quiet anchorages.

Edisto Beach Homeowner

I live in Upstate NY--sail a Catalina 22 on Keuka Lake. I have a home on Edisto Beach (sail a Sunfish there--surf too tough for anything else). Regarding your anchorage question. The best spot for you would be at the South end of Ediso Beach near where Big Bay Creek and the intercoastal intersect. There are several coves and quiet areas nearby where you will be safe and secure. The Atlantic is a half mile out from this point. If you venture up Big Bay Creek you will find a great marina (600 yards up the Creek) and a great eating spot (Sunset Grill--think EAGLE's)---hope this helps. Edito is a gem----Beau
