Oday 322 Sea of Cortez
Hey everyone,
I am new to Oday's, never sailed or been on one, however, there is a 1987 Oday 322 located in SoC that looks like it's in good condition.

I am curios to know what the performance is like of these boats? Are they boats that would be suitable for Sea of Cortez sailing?

Thanks!

I have owned my O'Day 322 for sl years now. I find her to sail very well, top speed of ~7 knots. She points well, and has a very liveable cabin for a boat her size.

The anchor "locker" is really more like an anchor pan. Very shallow.

I have a large Genoa that helps in light air (and an a-spin).

The Yanmar 2GM20 diesel is small, but pushes the boat at 6 knots easily.

2 ) 30 gallon water tanks under port and starboard settees provide decent water tankage. Fuel tank is small at 19 gallons. Same for the holding tank.

Small swim platform on the stern, and a ladder that is reachable from the water.

There has certainly been some reports of poor stub keel layup, and delamination in the sump. A boat or 2 reported losing the keel. Google this and be informed. I have checked my keel joint and bolts and do not see an issue. But I have not dropped the keel to inspect the holes and layup.

There is another owner who took his to the Caribbean. He is a contributor here as well. Check the Bigger Boats section under the O'Day forums.

I think she is a great boat (but I am a bit prejudiced)
