This popped up on my FB page from January of this year. Figured someone would enjoy it.

Looks like the boat came to a stop by the end of the video!

Nice day. But I gotta agree, you gotta bring more if you want to call it sailing porn.

RE: Sailing Porn and Inquiring Minds as mentioned in my earlier post.

I looked for a definition of "full and by" and discovered my belief of its meaning was less than completely correct as a politician might verbalize. I did find a web site that might be of interest to sailors who have put their boats on land for the winter or have stored them in some other manner. It might also be a good read as a way to increase one's vocabulary. The pages include an index in which you can find a term listed alphabetically and then "click on it" to be transported to the term and its meaning within the 88 pages of information.

@31seahorse The link didn't work. Any chance you could cut and paste the URL? I'd like to look at it.

My understanding of "full and by" is a square rigged ship sailing as close to the wind as possible with all sails full.

Hello DArcy, I just sent you a PM with the info. The site I found agrees with your interpretation of "full and by".

To all the "other ships at sea" or interested members who might like to look at that nautical vocabulary site I mentioned you might need to do this. Don't for get to start the web address with that pesky www and leave no spaces as you enter the other letters and symbols. I confess to knowing much less about computer info than many of you.

Capta (and any other Inquiring Minds):
First, nice picture showing lots of sailcloth. BTW: In nautical terms is that "full and by"?
Second, do you think the man on the bowsprit is preparing to yell, "Look, no hands!"?
I couldn't tell you unless I was sailing her as I can't tell if she is as close hauled as she can be from that picture.
As a teen I used to run out the Wanderer's 34' bowsprit and jibboom all the time, until I slipped off once, at sea. Good thing there was a nice big net under there. I never thought of that net as anything other than a cool place to take my girlfriends before that.

I used to sleep in the netting on a Topsail ketch I crewed on, but only at anchor in settled weather. I never tested it at sea ;)
