Thanks oldersalt, Caboteur, woodster, & jimmcgee,

Following all the leads offered will take some time. I have learned from your translations and suggestions. The Olympics and the Zuiderzee Museum are sources to be explored. I think a short story might just write itself in the next few weeks.

I'm glad to have offered "a bone to chew on" during this cold weather.

ok heres what i got back from my Dutch friend on the translation...hope it helps...

Literally it means :

The "for beach scavenging" on the Southernsee near Amsterdam.

The Zuiderzee is a lake now, called The Ijselmeer.

Guuzjer is a word from the island of Terschelling which means Strand Jutten in Dutch, which means Beach stealing from ship wrecks.

Jutten is close to Jatten, which means stealing, but it is also bargoens which is kind of a criminal Jiddish slang and it also means hands, because that what they steal with.

was hopeing for more...but it seems it had nothing to do with the type of vessel just what it was used for lol ...to me it seems you have found a pic of an old Dutch Pirate sailing vessel .....

regards
