First of all I refuse to take my sails down yet. Last weekend was great sailing on Narragansett Bay. (OK we sailed in our foulies to keep warm, but the wind was a constant 10-15 out of the Northeast and yes there was a slight rain, what they call a soft day in Ireland, OK there was some fog, but thats what radar is for) Anyway back to the clams. Sailing around the north tip of Prudence on Sunday when we spot a group of clamers raking the bottom in 20' of water. We tack around them and head off. A short time later one of them catches up with us and hands over an onion bag with 5 pounds of Narragansetts best hard shell clams. (2"'s of pure heaven). Said he had reached his limit and did't want to waste them. Before I could get a few bucks he was off. We raised a glass to toast him last night during our dinner of steamed clams and chowder. The quahoggers can be a nice bunch of guys...

...when they aren't blasting through your mooring field at 0'dark-thirty at 15 knots. But stuffed quahogs truly are yummy. Mmmmm...stuffies Cheers, Bob
