I MADE IT!!!

Thanks everyone, I completed the trip. I survived on an economy size box of Combos and a few cans of Juicy Juice!! I couldn't convince anyone to come with me so I purchased a monkey from a lab and trained him to stand watch. Mr. Pickles was a fine seaman and we are presently planning a cirumnavigation. My book, "Me and Mr. Pickles Face the Sea" will be out in a few months.

Isnt there a guy?

Presently isnt there a guy who is trying to sail a 5 footer around the world? I havent heard anything about him lately, so dont know how far he has gotten! Also 16 footers have circled the globe. It all depends on the amount of adventure and risk you are willing to take! Beef up and sail on!

Mr Pickes goes Hollywood

Hey I want to know if you rent out Mr Pickles, I bet he would be handy when something goes awry at the top of the mass. Plus Michel Jackson is going to need a pal when I bust him out and make a run for the border. Larry Jordan S/V Valor

North Alantic sailing plan

My next expedition was planned for Hudson Bay. I was going to send my boat north by rail to the foot of James Bay at Moosenee Ont. From there, sail North into Hudson Bay. I've been in training in the Great Lakes for some time now. Canidian National railroad says that there is too much vandelisim in their northern yards to send a yacht up there. That means sailing all the way around Labrador, from the Great Lakes. Hell, I might as well sail across the Atlantic if that is the case. As mentioned in my previous post, teaming up with another vessel is the way to go. I'm wanting to know if there are any other fools on this board (other than the 22 foot guy and Mr. Pickles) that are tough enough to attempt the northern route...Labrador to Greenland, Greenland to Iceland, Iceland to England. I could be ready as soon as summer of 2007. Ya know gentlemen... what bothers me most is the thought of having to sail it back. John what is your boat???

I was thinking of a circumpolar expedition with my walker bay 8' dinghy. Figure that I can drag it across solid water and sail on the liquid stuff. Eat seals so that I won't have to carry much food. Walker Bay dinghys are very tough and have floatation so no worry about sinking. I've been training in Saint Andrews bay so I know I'm up to the task. The white sand looks just like snow and the water temperature is down to 60 so I can handle the cold. Tom

John,

I'm kind of on board for the northern route to Europe. I'd like to see Iceland, other than flying over it. Dave Martin and family were up there last summer on a 31'er. 2007 could fit in to my plan. What are you thinking for the return? France, Azores, Bermuda? Pat

Tom, I'd like to...

... join you for this trip. I've got a great styrofoam Super Snark that, like the Walker Bay, would be the perfect boat for this trip. I won't need to eat seals, however, since I'm carbo-packing now and won't need to eat at all. I just made a new sail for my Snark out of one of those blue-poly drop clothes and I think I could do about 3 kts with that baby up. I've also been saving bubble wrap from my holiday gifts to use for flotation, if need be. Got one of those collapsible umbrellas from a street vendor to use as both a bimini and rain shield. I bet I can also use it to trap rain water for drinking, so no need to bring along the one gallon of fresh water I had been planning. I can hardly wait to get going....
