Watched The Boat last evening on Amazon Prime. They got the sailing stuff right as far as I could tell (which is unusual for sailing films) but the premise and plot defied my ability to suspend disbelief. I guess that’s par for the course in horror movies. Oh well, worth a watch if you’ve run out of other choices during lockdown.
Watched a little. I think i can put up with the boats idiosyncrasies :) doesn't seem any more haunted than mine!

Watched WIND last night for the zillionth time. Thin story line, but the best sailing I've ever seen in a movie. Was on Amazon for four bucks.
Yep! Did the same thing the other night. "Wind" is a pretty good sailing flick. "White Squall" is pretty good and the "Master and Commander" movie is pretty good too. There are tons of sailing movies on YouTube.

I've been planning my library for a long voyage; or a pandemic it seems. My library of sailing movies. If it's on a modern boat, or about racing it's here. No pirate movies. The only true exception is Master and Commander, which is too badass to leave off. Anything I'm missing?

There is a YouTube series by a couple from Sweden who live on their boat. It's called "Ran Sailing". At the moment they are in Malmo Sweden at the dock on a new (larger) boat. Soon they will take off for the ocean again. They just had a baby and are getting the boat ready for an ocean cruise. The guy, Johan (I think) is fearless. He will tackle absolutely any boat project and do it well too. The videos come out every Friday and are around 25 minutes each. The movies are a mix of actual sailing, boat projects and the places they visit. Very interesting people. Mahle (his wife) is simply lovable. Good hearted and down to earth. They are supported by Patreon viewers. Though they are Swedish they speak flawless English and have traveled the entire planet. If you can't tell I am hooked on their adventures.

Shackleton’s Captain”. Great story about Capt Worsley and his epic voyage 800 miles from Antarctica to South Georgia Island in a 22’ boat in 1916. Oh, across the southern ocean in winter.
That's a great one too. For me it fits in a different category; I suppose Kon-Tiki should as well.
