For those in the midwest, there is a new website for locating and rating (for sailing) inland lakes in Michigan. It's a new site so not much rating has been done. The site is www.SailMichigan.org . You can search for lakes based on location, size, depth, orientation or by ratings (not as useful until more lakes are rated). Information provided for the lakes includes the location (via GPS/Google maps) of the public launch ramps for the lake.
If you will be sailing in Michigan, you may want to try the site out and maybe even rate a lake or two. The site is currently geared toward the trailer-sailor type of sailboat classes.
