Sailing is tough under these conditions

Hersh... isn't it kind of like US though? Last year we had solid lake until the first week of April... we never thought it'd clear, but it was like a light switch, and POOF it was warm/hot... and the lake melted, NO LIE in 1 week. I was amazed, but our dockmaster was able to get all the docks in before official start of the season (he was scrambling, but he DID it). Like an idiot I showed up 3 days early (I told him I was coming), and he had enough docks in to get me in the water.. that man worked himself and his crew of 2 from 6am until 6pm to get our docks in, and docks for most of the lake.
Our official start of season is the first Saturday in May... I've been able to get in usually by the last day of April so far.
