I'll be on a business trip in San Diego, staying on Coronado. I'd like to charter a 32-40 foot boat for an afternoon. I usually sail the Chesapeake Bay. Anyone have any recommendation as to who is a good to rent from and any particulars about sailing SD Bay? Thanks, Steph

Steph,
I've been to San Diego and rented sailboats from a place called Seaforth. It's located by Sea Side Village, and is easy to find. They have sailboats up to 42 feet in length. Try www.seaforthboatrental.com .

I've had good experiences each time I've rented a boat from them.

They can tell you what you need to keep clear of, where to go, and where not to. The wind was much better in the afternoons when I was there.

I hope you have a good time on the Bay!

Cheers!

Been several years ago, but we were able to charter/day sail a 37' Hunter. I'd Google "sail charter San Diego" and see what pops up. Might also check www.marinasailing.com and see what they have in that area.

Steph, There are probably half a dozen charter companies in San Diego Bay. You can also try your hand at America's Cup Racing on one of the two boats based there. A google search should provide several choices and "The Log" , a local boating base newspaper has classifieds to check out.

Steph when are you going to be there? Would be willing to take you out on our boat. No problem. I also have a friend who is a licensed Captain and owns a Benn 40. She loves to take people out.
