I am thinking of relocating our C22 to either Monterey CA or Moss Landing CA. What are the summer and winter wind and wave conditions in this area? Is the C22 suitable for this area, and do you have first hand experience with the C22 there? What is situation on waiting lists for slips and availability of slips suitable for the C22? Thanks.

I respectfully suggest you diss ML

Think of afternoon summer winds. ML is right at the easternmost end of Monterey Bay. The wind waves alone on a nice sailing day will preclude getting in many cases. While it's a nice run back in, it could be uncomfortable in larger boats, not to mention in a C22, although it's a great boat for Monterey Bay. We had a C22 and sailed it all over SF Bay, so we know the boat and its great abilities. You'll love it. Go to Monterey.

Don't know about slips, but up here they're are becoming more available. I just don't know where the boats are going!?!?

Learn to reef and either get roller furling on your jib or start using a 110 working jib for starters - don't know what your experience level is.

ML, BTW, is a great place to keep a boat given the slough behind it and the wildlife. Just not fun going in and out, especially after 1100 hours.

There'll probably be folks who keep their boats there and love it. Just call me "Mr. Safety First."

Thanks for info. My son will be using the boat mostly (it's ours together) and has some sailing experience. Monterey would be a better location vs. ML if we can get the slip.
