The sun finally came out last Saturday and warmed things up here a little. So, we thought we would take our boat out for a short sail around the the bay. And a couple other boats had the same idea, just a couple...,

Wow, that was an impressive number of "a couple other boats!" I envied you guys sitting there with long sleeved shirts, while I was sitting in a winter jacket. We had a covering of snow last night, and this Saturday we're expecting a Nor'easter with 6" or more of snow.

Looks like it will be in the 60's and sunny again this Saturday. Hopefully I can a crew together and get out on the bay again. And I bet there will be a couple other boats out on the bay with me like last Saturday, something about Icicle Race #4.

It was great, and a little intense the way the boats really bunched up at the mark roundings with the light winds. I can't wait to do it again.

Last Sunday here was a nice day. I had a choice of working on the boat, or Going for a sail. From the pictures below, you can see how the decision went.

We sail all the time in January over here (except when it is raining).

What do you mean except when it rains? It almost always rains. Actually I'll have to admit we have had a pretty dry year (At least lots of dry days) We're still waiting to close on our new to us Hunter 30. Hopefully today or tomorrow. The idea behind the change of boat is to sail more out of "season."

Seems like most nice days, THIS ends up happening. Most times I end up getting to sail the boat for a couple of hours, but I have to earn it..

Friday morning in the hill country above San Antonio it was snowing. I think that scared a lot of people out of sailing.

But it warmed up 15 degrees by 1pm, and the rain stopped. Thankfully for us the 15-17 knots of breeze stayed.

Jackdaw, I can't even get my boat going that fast under motor, yet under sail. LOL

Nice videos all. I am not a racer so I am not envious. I also went out yesterday. Pacific Ocean was fine and the wind was around 10knts. Good sailing in the SoCal.

Brian, very true, these boats are much faster under sail then they could ever be under motor!

I however I'm rather envious of you and others that can sail their own boats year round! Very nice in SoCal.
