Hi all ,
Some fresh news from France:
Just to let you know that all sailors are at home and it is now illegal to be on your boat or visiting a marina. It is also strictly forbiden to use a boat on a river , lake or sea. We need a special pass for shopping , absolutely no contact with relatives and friends, max 1 hour for sport activity and less than 1/2 mile from home. Beach and harbor are closed even for a walk. We all have to stay home and the offense is punished by 200$ then 400$ if recidivism. Hope you health for the newt weeks to come.
Marc

Salut Marc. Where are you in France? You probably visit VOILE : Forum voile, plaisance et nautisme already . Our yacht club asks that we not enter the buildings, and is offering take-out meals delivered to your car in the parking lot. Moorings are going in, though.
Bonjour Paul,
Located near Vannes (Morbihan), and my boat is at Arzal on the Vilaine river.
Actually stuck at home as all people with no possibility to travel except for work.
Luckily we have a garden , a large fridge and fresh food. Sun is shining but the sea is missing.
Regards
Marc

I hope this will help you to understand the real situation in France. It's even forbidden to do some works or repairs on our boat ! Traveling is not allowed except if you have a job wich need it. And in some cities you are only allowed to walk 10 yards from home with your pet. Roads and cities are totally empty and police is watching you.
Like our president said two weeks ago :
It is the War !

Nice to hear from you Marc. We have heard that the conditions in France have become serious. Your discussion about the restrictions support that information.

We had planned a trip to Paris and Northern France in May of this year. We decided to cancel the trip plans in late January. Now it appears to have been a good, though sad decision.

We are hopeful your safe. Keep up the info sharing. Always enjoy hearing from the locals whats happening on the ground.

You took the right decision even if it is a sad one !
We had to cancel my son's wedding end of May because we are not confident with the future knowing that looking at our neighbours Italy and Spain the situation is worse than in France . All european borders are closed but France is sending some Covid 19 sicks to Germany ,Switzerland, Luxembourg due to the lack of beds in our hospital in the Eastern region. We are living on the west coast and some trains and military plane will transfer from East and from Paris some sicks under pulmonary resucitation. At this stage Paris Eastern and Northen region are the worst place to be actually. We are not really impacted in our region even if some people came two weeks ago to their second home because they didn't want to live the containment in Paris which I understand. The main problem is that they maybe bring the Covid 19 virus knowing that we have to wait 15 days to confirm the illness. One of the two airports in Paris is totally closed and all kind of transports are reduced. We are working home by telework which could be done if your job is compatible with it. Surgical Masks, gloves and hydroalcoholic gel are the necessary equipment to visit food supermarket. This Covid 19 virus is not a single flue like it has been said by the past, so the best way to fight it is to stay home.
We hope you some better days and will be happy to welcome you in France when that situation will become safe. Keep your family and relatives safe.
Marc

Hi Paul,
My boat ,a Hunter 36, is located on the left side of the Arzal harbour. This picture was taken end of february after winter works and maintenance.

Arzal harbour is 1 hour driving from Rennes so the Vilaine river has nothing to compare between Rennes and Arzal. You can sail from Arzal to Redon but not Rennes. To reach the sea you have to go through a lock with a bridge on top of it but the main advantage is that your boat stay in fresh water and protected from huricane.

Belle bête. Radar! Eclipse is not as fancy, though we do have a radar reflector. Only a about 10km/10 min away, but have to work on the six boats at home for now; still plenty to do. An online friend sails his 5o5 from Arradon.
